Fall Registration and Kick-Off

August 22, 2010 after the 10:00am service

Mark your calendars for this year’s Fall Kick-Off on Sunday, August 22nd, immediately following the morning worship service. Children and their parents should proceed to their assigned atrium for a brief orientation and meeting with your child’s catechist, then head out to the back parking lot for burgers, bouncies, and fun!

New to The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?

If you are the parent of a rising 3-year-old or an older child who has never participated in our children’s discipleship program, please plan to attend a special orientation session at 9:00am on Sunday, August 22nd in Akers Hall. Joanna Williams, Director of Children’s Discipleship, will share important information about your child’s Sunday morning experience, and answer any questions you may have.

Worship Team Practice Resumes

The Children’s Chapel Worship Team will resume practice on Wednesday, August 25th, at 5:15pm in the choir room, immediately following St. Dunstan’s Choir practice. The Worship Team is open to children ages 9 and up. For more information, contact Abby Lomax at abby.lomax@stgeorgesnashville.org or by calling the church office at 385-2150.

Volunteers Needed!

Children’s Discipleship is looking for adults called to work with children in a variety of capacities—in the atrium and children’s chapel, as well as remaking and restoring materials for the program. If you are interested in giving your time and talents, please contact Elizabeth Nash at 385-2150.

Vacation Bible School

Important Announcement about 2010 VBS!

Our facility restoration will not be complete in time for our scheduled Vacation Bible School. Visit our VBS page for all the details about an alternative program at St. George's this summer.

For those who are still interested in a daytime VBS program, Christ Church has offered to open its VBS to our children. More details may be found at http://www.christcathedral.org/Education/VBS.

Service Opportunities for Children

Junior Acolytes lead the children as they process in and out of the nave for Children’s Chapel, and read the gospel reading in Children’s Chapel. In order to serve, acolytes must attend a training session on Wednesday.  For more information, please contact Abby Lomax at 385-2150 x 265 or abby.lomax@stgeorgesnashville.org.

Worship Leaders help lead our Children’s Chapel music. Practices are weekly, following St. Dunstan’s Choir practice on Wednesdays at 5:45pm. Children must attend practice the week prior to leading worship.

Supporting our Sister Atrium at St. Thomas, in Kagiso, South Africa is a great way for children of all ages to be involved. Our children can support the children of that parish by making the materials they need or giving money to buy on-going supplies.

For more information about any of these opportunities, email children@stgeorgesnashville.org.
