The Choir of Saint Thomas, Fifth Avenue, New York City

The Choir of Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue, New York City, performs for the first time in Nashville since coming under the directorship of John Scott, formerly Master of the Choirs, St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, England. The tradition of the Saint Thomas choir school had its Anglican roots at Saint Thomas at the beginning of the twentieth century under the tutelage of T. Tertius Noble, who came to America from York Cathedral, York, England, and was later refined under the direction of Dr. Gerre Hancock.

St. George’s Choir and Orchestra in Concert
April 25, 2010, 7:00pm
The St. George’s Choir and orchestra will perform American composer Samuel Barber’s powerful cantata The Prayers of Kierkegaard, based on profoundly moving texts from the Danish theologian. The Choir will also sing a selection of pieces by contemporary American composer Eric Whitacre, including his beloved setting on texts from Leonardo da Vinci and an excerpt from his opera Paradise Lost.
