Discipleship Opportunities

Adults
Want to grow, become a better person? Who doesn't?
But sometimes our image of the life of faith is one of arrival, of settling in, of not growing. To be a Christian, we may conclude, is to reside comfortably in one place. We at St. George’s prefer the image of Paul the apostle, where he speaks of our always moving forward in spiritual maturity. "The God who began a good work in you," he wrote, "will carry it in on to completion."
We believe that adult discipleship (that is, education) happens in a climate of expectancy for ongoing learning and growing. We know we are all unfinished, so at St. George’s we are nourishing a culture of becoming lifelong learners in the Christian faith.
Adult class offerings vary with each season or semester. Most adult classes gather around topics or themes. Many of these opportunities happen Sunday morning at 10:05 a.m., while others, such as weekday Bible studies, Wednesday evening programs, or small groups meet at other times.

Youth

Please visit our Youth Page to see our thriving youth ministry. We have classes on Sunday mornings for grades six through twelve as well as a full calendar of programs and events throughout the year. The youth program remains very active throughout the summer, and our youth ministry team makes a special effort to stay in touch with our college students. Please feel free to call the church at 385-2150 and ask to speak with our Student Discipleship Coordinator, or reach her by email at youthprograms@stgeorgesnashville.org.
Children

St. George’s Sunday School program for children is called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and is held regularly from 10:05 – 11:00am during the regular program year (Labor Day through Memorial Day). Classes meet on the first and second floor of our Christian education wing. You may also call or email Joanna Williams (385-2150, Ext. 243 or joanna.williams@stgeorgesnashville.org), our Director of Children’s Discipleship, for more information. She will be glad to explain our Christian education offerings for children and give you a tour of the facilities. Information is also available on our Children's Page.
What is Discipleship?
Jesus used a vital and important word for those who followed him: disciple. Disciple conveys the idea of learner, student, and apprentice. We believe that learning and growth in Christ takes a lifetime, that we are called to a lifestyle of discipleship. What we have previously called "Christian formation" we will now refer to as "discipleship."
