What We Believe
The beliefs of the Episcopal Church are outlined in the Catechism (or a summary of principles), which is found in The Book of Common Prayer (BCP). The entire book and Catechism can be viewed online here.
St. George’s Church is a local expression in Nashville of the Christian faith universal with roots dating back to biblical history and the ancient church.
We believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, seeking transformation in his love and obedience to his teachings in the world. We are a congregation of The Episcopal Church and of the worldwide Anglican Communion, participating in the tradition, liturgy, history, and fellowship of other member churches all over the world. As a parish, our stated mission is to “Receive, Live, and Share the Abundant Life of Jesus Christ.” This mission undergirds our beliefs about who we are today and where we are going in the future.
