Frequently Asked Questions
We know that people in this church family come from many backgrounds and may have questions about how St. George's plans for our financial needs each year. We hope the answers to these questions will inform you about our annual processes and our desire to use your gifts faithfully and responsibly.
If you have other questions or if you would like to discuss your giving plans, contact Catherine Beemer, Director of Parish Giving, at Catherine.beemer@stgeorgesnashville.org or 615-385-2150 x 244.
What does it mean to pledge to St. George’s?
A pledge to our parish means that you have made the decision to give to St. George’s with intention. It is your promise to fulfill a defined, annual monetary gift that supports the operational budget of the church.
What percent of the church’s annual budget is supported by pledges?
For the calendar year 2022, about 75 percent of our budget was supported by pledges to St. George’s. This is the primary source for our budget plan each year.
Does my pledge renew automatically?
No, your pledge will not be automatically renewed. Please complete your annual pledge in the ways described above.
How can I make a pledge?
There are several ways to make a pledge:
- Fill out a paper pledge card and drop it in the offering plate at Sunday services.
- Pledge using your Realm account at onrealm.org/stgeorges.
- Pledge online through our website — no login required.
- Contact Catherine Beemer, Director of Parish Giving, at catherine.beemer@stgeorgesnashville.org or 615-385-2150.
How do I pay my pledge?
Many of our parishioners find it easiest to give through a secure account at Realm, where you can set up automatic bank draft or credit card payments. You can then choose the frequency and amount of your gifts. The church also gladly accepts checks, gifts of stock, or IRA distributions (if 70.5 or older). Details for all of these options can be found on our website.
What happens if I am unable to fulfill my pledge?
We understand that life circumstances can change. If you are unable to fulfill your pledge, simply call Catherine Beemer, Director of Parish Giving, to discuss options. All conversations are kept confidential. Please know we are grateful for your gifts, and as your parish we also want to support you during difficult times.
What about the cash contributions I put in the offering plate on Sundays?
Putting money in the offering plate is a wonderful spiritual discipline, however it does not take the place of a pledge. Plate offerings are contributions that are always welcome, but we cannot financially plan for those gifts in preparing our budget. Our annual budget is based largely on pledged income to the church.
