75th Annivesary: Gene B. Manning
The Rev. Gene B. Manning served as a guest preacher for our 75th Anniversary Preaching Series at 10:00am in the Nave.
About the Rev. Gene B. Manning | Gene served as Associate Rector here at St. George’s from 2002 to 2007, providing oversight and coordination of our outreach ministries. Through her leadership, St. George’s was deeply engaged in local outreach efforts including Habitat for Humanity and the West Nashville Community Partnership — both of which restored dignity to people with insufficient housing. Gene was especially influential in building our multi-year partnership with St. Thomas Parish in Kagiso, South Africa. In addition, she served as Chaplain to St. George’s Kindergarten.
Known by many for her compassion, it will come as no surprise that after leaving St. George’s, Gene served at Christ Church Cathedral, where she was responsible for their pastoral care ministry. Today she shares her gift of mentoring and years of counseling experience at Sewanee’s School of Theology, where she serves as Spiritual Director.
She and her husband James continue to live in Nashville, and their family has grown to include four grandchildren.
