When Jesus is transfigured, this is not simply a one-off miracle where Jesus’s clothes become a little brighter. This is a moment where the disciples are allowed to glimpse the way things really are. They’re allowed for a moment to see what is ordinarily unseen but what is in fact most real. They’re allowed for a moment to see that this man with whom they’ve worked and eaten and shared in ministry is none other than very God himself.
